Dye Sublimation
All of our images are now available as prints on aluminum.
Sublimation is a process of going from a solid state directly into a gaseous state bypassing the liquid state.
Dye sublimation is a process in which an image is printed on a piece of transfer paper. This is then placed onto a piece of pretreated aluminum and placed into a special heat press. Temperatures in the press exceed 380 degrees which turns the dyes into a gas. The gases are then pressed into the aluminum. Once cooled, the image is permanently infused on the aluminum.
“The results of this process creates a durable barrier against dirt, scratches and harmful UV rays, thus eliminating the need for protective glass or framing. The surface of our metal photo prints beam with such vibrant color and visual depth that they appear nearly 3D.”
